An Antioch man told police he accidentally shot his 36-year-old brother while looking his sibling’s new gun Saturday night, police said.

The 41-year-old man, who has not been identified, was being interviewed by Antioch police detectives late Saturday and the case is under investigation, said acting Lt. Diane Aguinaga.

At about 6:39 p.m., police received a 911 call from the older brother saying he accidentally shot his sibling in the 2300 block of Cambridge Drive. Responders found the younger brother with a single gunshot wound and he was declared dead at the scene, Aguinaga said.

The surviving brother told investigators that his younger sibling brought the newly obtained gun to his house and while they both were looking at it, it fired.
